Photo-Etching

Photo-Etching is a 150 year old printing technique (photogravure) which creates a unique type of hand printed photographic print. We use your digital camera file, wonderful papers, inks and traditional printing to create award winning fine art photographic prints.

Our award winning photographic prints of
work by amateur, professional and celebrity photographers have been exhibited internationally.

From the high street to Harrods and West End exhibitions our work is unique.

We offer two choices of mould made paper, White from Hahnemuhle and a Soft White from Somerset as standard. To compliment these fine papers you can select from a sepia or black ink, as you can see from the images above these choices allow you to choose the feel of the finished piece. We can offer alternative papers, inks and framing mouldings on request.

We have three size ranges, where size refers to the image which can be any size up to the maximum on either dimension of the range. See Prints Size Required below.

What Type of Digital File?

Most modern digital cameras, when set to Large file size, will produce a jpeg file that will be suitable to create a photo-etching. If the file size is too small (this is very rare) we will contact you and we will not print the image until we have a new or larger file. You don't need to make any adjustments to the file before sending, we use your colour jpeg image and make the adjustments in our studio. Click here to visit our FAQ page.

What Type of Image Works Well?

Because the print is quite different from a normal photographic print, most images will print very well as we aim to produce an artful result. The best results are from images that are simple and unfussy, we often describe them as "classical", portraiture is particularly effective. The process produces a work of real beauty

Reviewer: C Wasserman from London   5 Stars
Noble Fine Art made an etching for me from one of my photos, and it is absolutely beautiful - so soft and delicate. The service I received from both David and Julia has been caring and first class all the way. I look forward to working with them again.

Reviewer: P Moseley from London   5 Stars
I am delighted with the quality of prints produced by Noble Fine Art and by the care taken by David and his colleagues to ensure that the final prints matched my requirements and were delivered safely on time. The editions were produced to a very high standard and, for hand-pulled gravures, the prints were remarkably consistent.

Reviewer: J Johnson from Dorset   5 Stars
David's printing skills are without equal. His input and guidance are invaluable, and his enthusiasm for his art is clearly evident. I don't know how he does it but, David has a knack of making my prints look as if they were taken by someone who knows what he is doing. Wow.
